Petar’s Restaurant
Dining out in Southwest Florida has become a hit or miss occasion. Our experience at Petar’s Restaurant in Bonita Springs was, I am glad to say, a big hit. We were greeted like a long lost member of the family. Although the restaurant is in a shopping center we felt as if we were in a fine dining establishment on 5th Avenue in Naples. The open kitchen is a nice touch and provides an interesting view of the workings of a top drawer chef and his crew. Our server, Cole, was efficient, friendly and unobtrusive.
We opened our evening with a nice Pinot Noir while we waited for our appetizers. Mine was the: ANTIPASTO SALAD – Tomatoes, Zucchini, Roasted Red Pepper, Basil,Fresh Mozzarella, Prosciutto, Olives, Balsamic Reduction.
My partner ordered the: BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP – Organic Butternut Squash, Fennel, Vidalia Sweet Onions.
Both were excellent. If I had to make a critique, the salad was delicious but the tomatoes were not quite ripe.
Moving on to the entree course I ordered the daily fish special. A perfectly prepared tri-tail fillet, served over a bed of linguine with a delicious sauce, the chef has a deft touch here, the fish was delicate and skillfully prepared.
My partner ordered the: BRAISED WAGYU BEEF SHORT RIBS – Creamy Polenta, Vegetables, House Made Demi-Glace. Of course we shared and I found the short ribs to be succulent and the polenta especially creamy.
We ended our excellent evening by sharing a dessert of House Crepe with apples, cranberries and cinnamon, a luscious ending to a wonderful evening.
