Campiello Ristorante
Dining out on a weekday evening is a special treat for us. When choosing a restaurant we look for three things, Ambiance, Good service and great food, not necessarily in that order. We were early for our reservation but we were seated immediately as the restaurant was not that busy. In the area that we were seated there is a skylight and a ceiling fan in direct alignment with the setting sun which created an uncomfortable situation, somewhat similar to a disco ball. So we moved our seats to avoid the inconvenience. When seated our table was wobbly due to an uneven floor and had to be leveled by our hostess. I don’t mean to be picky, but in a upscale restaurant these little things should be addressed by staff before seating patrons. Our server was congenial and knowledgeable about the specials and menu items. Service was speedy and unobtrusive until it was time to pay, we had to wait and wait and wait. Finally asked one of the other staff to find our waiter so we could leave. On to the food, the only saving grace of our night out. Excellent bread to start, salad was crisp and well seasoned with a great dressing, my Balsamic glazed short ribs were fork tender and delicious. My companions’ very expensive Veal Chop was done perfectly and presented in a classic manner. Served with a side of grilled asparagus with hazelnuts it was also delicious. So if the front of the house can iron out the little things and live up to the standards of the kitchen we will return.
