Osteria Tulia
Billed as Rustic Italian Cuisine, it hits the mark. Our special occasion dinner was everything we expected from one of Naples finer Ristorante. Greeted warmly, the hostess knew our name and our special occasion was noted. Drinks were offered and we decided on a house chianti. The chianti was very palatable with a robust after taste. Not to be picky, but when I order a caesar salad I expect anchovies unless I decline. It isn’t technically a caesar salad without the anchovies. By the time the waitress, Sam, guessing short for Samantha, checked up on us and offered anchovies the salad was almost gone. But I digress, the salad was delicious without the fish. Sam was efficient and cordial without being obtrusive. My special birthday guest, my spouse, ordered the Veal Chop. When it arrived it filled the plate due to the obvious pounding it had endured. I don’t know why some chefs feel the need to pound an already tender piece of meat. My choice was the braised short rib of beef served on a bed of polenta. Very tender, nicely presented and a very generous portion. The bread preceding the meal was exceptional, served with a eggplant and garlic mash. We passed on desert but Sam, gifted us with two biscotti for the special occasion We left completely satisfied and will return.
